Emma - Pilates and Barre

Emma was introduced to Pilates as a teenager to manage injuries during full-time dance training and has been hooked ever since. She believes in arming her clients with the knowledge of their bodies, so they carry the work not only in their session but also throughout their day and lives. She has been instructing since 2002 in many varied environments including private studios, gyms, schools and physiotherapy and podiatry practices with a range of clients and ages from elite athletes through to injury rehabilitation. Former clients include Photo and Beauty Editor of Vanity Fair magazine and Chairman of Christie’s America Auction House.

Emma holds a Comprehensive certification through Pilates International and was a teacher trainer for the Equinox Pilates training program. Additionally, she has an Advanced Diploma of Dance from WAAPA, Australia and completed the two-year conservatory program at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of Theatre.  She also teaches acting, movement and dance throughout the US and Australia.

Her favorite exercise is the Roll Down. When executed properly this exercise activates the abdominals, connects the breath to abs and movement, mobilizes the spine and releases tension throughout the body. It is an exercise that can be done anywhere and is beneficial at any time of the day, both in and out of a pilates session.
